Cesare Chiacchiaretta, Bandoneon

Composer and Decca Label recording artist Cesare Chiacchiaretta was born in Chieti and devoted himself to the study of the accordion at a very young age, later taking up the bandoneon. He studied under Claudio Calista at the Music Academy of Pescara, graduating with distinction at the Niccolò Piccinni Conservatory of Bari in 1995. He subsequently perfected his skills under distinguished masters, including Max and Christiane Bonnay, Vladimir Zubitsky and Mogens Ellegaard. Cesare Chiacchiaretta has performed for the most prestigious concert institutions in Italy and abroad (France, Russia, Hungary, Austria, Slovenia, Switzerland, Germany, Mexico, Croatia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Spain, Canada and regularly touring United States) both as a soloist and in several chamber music ensembles collaborating with renowned Italian musicians and actors such as Corrado Giuffredi, Lorna Windsor, Danilo Rossi, Giuseppe Ettorre, Nando Gazzolo, Arnoldo Foà, Elio, Rino Vernizzi, Massimo Mercelli and ensembles such as Cuarteto del Angel, Trio sin Palabras, Quartetto Mahagonny, exploring the most varied repertoire. In 2005, he made his debut at the Great Hall of the St Petersburg Academic Philharmonic. He has been awarded many prizes at important national and international competitions, and in 1993 won the first prize at the “Città di Castelfi dardo” international competition. In 1991, he was chosen to be the only Italian representative at the annual World Accordion Championships (International Confederation of Accordionists) organised by UNESCO C.I.A.I.M.C. World Cup. He has recorded for many radio and television broadcasters in Italy and abroad (Rai Uno, Radiotre, TV Korea, and TV Romania).

He has always been passionate in Astor Piazzolla’s music of which he’s a real connoisseur. As a soloist, he played with major orchestras and conductors (particularly worthy of note is the collaboration with the Kaunas Chamber Orchestra-Lithuania conducted by Pavel Berman and, most of all, the Orchestra Vox Aurae conducted by the famous Cuban Maestro Leo Brouwer), performing the most significant solo works for his instrument. In 2006, he played at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, with the Orchestra Sinfonica “L. Cherubini” conducted by Maestro Riccardo Muti, performing Nino Rota’s music.

He is currently an accordion teacher at the Arrigo Boito Conservatory in Parma. In 1993, he was invited to represent Italy at the 43rd Accordion World Trophy in Setubal, Portugal. He has collaborated with distinguished musicians and actors in varied repertoire and has been a member of the accordion quartet Accord’Ance since its formation. He has recorded for many radio and television broadcasters in Italy and abroad. He is currently part of Bandini-Chiacchiaretta Duo (classical guitar & bandoneon) that is signed by Decca label and have releasedtheir first CD “Escualo” to great acclaim.

In nomine Terrae
Summery: The composition aims to be a tribute to our beloved Earth which, now mistreated by the villainous interventions of man, rebels causing earthquakes, floods and other forms of environmental catastrophes. The first movement is DE HOMINE ET NATURA. The mother nature characterized by a tonal theme is disturbed by dissonances. LACRIMOSA is the second movement. The cry of nature, but also of human victims. The ending is DE OMNIUM CONCORDIA, the concordance of all things. It tells the different entities and races of the Earth in the alternation of rhythms and hopes for a natural balance in a world without war and calamity.
