The new recording “State of the Art” by Marcin Dylla released in January 2024 features the complexity and advancement of writing for solo classical guitar. It features works by such world-renowned composers as Magnus Lindberg (1958). This is the only guitar solo work to date by Lindberg called ‘Mano a Mano’. (Lindberg was New York Philharmonic’s composer-in-residence from 2009 to 2012 and the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s composer-in-residence for the 2014–15 season).

Roberto Sierra (1953), wrote one Sonata for the guitar (to date) and it features 4 movements, written for Manuel Barrueco.

Latvian composer, Pēteris Vasks, is another featured composer with only one sonata written thus far for the classical guitar labeled The Sonata of Loneliness, in 3 movements.

Finally, the recording includes Manuel Maria Ponce’s towering 25 minute work based on the popular ‘La Folia’ theme, Variations sur “Folia de España” et Fugue, released in its entirety.
